Support of the luteal phase

After ovulation, the ovarian follicle becomes a corpus luteum and begins to secrete progesterone to support pregnancy.

To achieve better endometrial development, a common point in all assisted reproduction protocols is the administration of exogenous progesterone. This has been shown to give better embryo implantation rates.

Progesterone drugs, such as Utrogestan or Progeffik, can be administered orally or with vaginal pessaries.
