In vitro fertilization (IVF) is a highly complex assisted reproduction technique that is more expensive than artificial insemination (AI). This reproductive alternative requires ovarian stimulation, follicular puncture, fertilization and embryo transfer to the uterus, steps that would explain its higher cost.
IVF is the option to achieve pregnancy in women who have a tubal obstruction, since it is not necessary to go through the fallopian tubes. The embryos generated in the laboratory are deposited directly into the woman's uterus. In addition, IVF is also recommended when the male is diagnosed with low sperm concentration in the semen, either cryptozoospermia or oligozoospermia.
