Embryo cryopreservation is performed using the vitrification technique, an ultrafast freezing technique that prevents the formation of ice crystals. Therefore, the embryo survival rate after thawing is also high, although it is necessary to have experience with this procedure.
In any case, according to the latest statistical registry of the Spanish Fertility Society from the year 2023, the pregnancy rate with fresh embryos (after PGT) was 45.8%; while with vitrified embryos it was 53.2%.
The statistical data shown here should not be used to imply or predict a certainty of outcome for a specific individual within an at-risk population.
