When a couple has been having regular sexual intercourse for more than a year without achieving pregnancy, it is time to see a fertility specialist. If the woman is over 35 years old, it is recommended to consult the specialist after 6 months of trying to conceive.
During the fertility consultation, tests will be requested for both the woman and the man in order to carry out a study and determine the possible causes of infertility. For example, some possible causes of female infertility may include menstrual cycle disorders, poor oocyte quality, uterine problems that prevent embryo implantation, etc.
In men, the main causes of male infertility are poor semen quality, absence of sperm, and genetic abnormalities in the sperm, among others.
