Cervicitis or inflammation of the cervix (neck of the uterus) is quite common in the female population. The main cause of cervicitis is usually sexually transmitted infections from unprotected sex. Therefore, one measure to prevent inflammation of the cervix is the use of condoms during intercourse.
Other recommendations to avoid cervicitis are to use intimate gels to control vaginal pH and not to douche.
