Although the general recommendation is to avoid sexual intercourse around the time of embryo transfer, some studies suggest that it may be beneficial. The reason is that the presence of seminal plasma in the female reproductive tract may promote maternal immunotolerance to the embryo and therefore implantation and early embryo development. However, more research is needed to confirm the results of these studies.
