Hydrosalpinx is a dilation of the fallopian tube due to the accumulation of fluid inside it. In addition, this alteration causes the tube to become obstructed. Therefore, hydrosalpinx can be the cause of tubal factor, hindering or preventing gestation.
Furthermore, the fluid accumulated by the hydrosalpinx can reach the uterus, which can reduce pregnancy rates in in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycles by affecting embryo implantation.
