GnRH analogs can be agonists or antagonists. In the case of GnRH antagonists, their action is immediate, so the woman will have to administer fewer injections. In addition, this type of ovarian stimulation protocol is usually well tolerated by the patient, as it has fewer side effects.
Another advantage of protocols with GnRH antagonists is that they reduce the risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) and do not produce ovarian cysts because they do not have a falre-up effect, unlike GnRH agonists.
