Hydrosalpinx causes obstruction of the fallopian tubes, thus affecting female fertility. However, it is not the only reason, since the accumulation of fluid in the fallopian tubes also has negative effects on pregnancy.
Some of the effects caused by the accumulation of fluid in the tubes are the following:
- Implantation failures, since the embryos are carried away and contact with the endometrium is prevented.
- This fluid is toxic for both embryos and sperm.
- Reduced endometrial receptivity due to failure in the expression of certain genes.
- Ectopic pregnancy, since the embryos are retained in the fallopian tubes.
Therefore, if this accumulation of fluid in the fallopian tubes disappears or is eliminated, all these negative effects are also eliminated and it will be possible to achieve gestation.
