The exact cause of a molar pregnancy is not described, but there are several factors that can increase the probability of its occurrence.
This is the case of maternal age or having suffered a previous molar pregnancy. In addition, a history of miscarriages, as well as a diet poor in protein and carotenoids are also considered risk factors for hydatidiform mole.
