One of the main risks of a multiple pregnancy is premature birth and the consequent low birth weight of the babies. In addition, pregnancies with more than one baby are also associated with a greater tendency to develop high blood pressure or preeclampsia, as well as intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR), gestational diabetes, and twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS).
For all these reasons, it is important to have exhaustive medical monitoring throughout the entire pregnancy and to follow medical guidelines. Furthermore, the specialist will probably advise the mother-to-be to rest.
