Ovitrelle is a hormonal drug that allows the induction of egg maturation in women after having followed an ovarian stimulation treatment. Its mechanism of action consists of resuming the meiosis (cell division) in which the egg was detained, thus achieving the expulsion of the second polar corpuscle.
In addition, Ovitrelle also allows ovulation to be triggered and mature eggs to be expelled into the fallopian tubes. Finally, the ovarian follicles where the eggs were contained become corpus luteum and begin to secrete estradiol and progesterone.
