Salpingitis is one of the most common infectious diseases of the female genital organs. It is also included in pelvic inflammatory diseases (PID). It consists of inflammation of the fallopian tubes and causes sterility due to tubal alterations. It therefore increases the chances of ectopic pregnancy.
The most common etiology of inflammation of the fallopian tubes is a sexually transmitted infection (STI) in the genital area.
