Ultrafast egg vitrification or freezing is a very common technique for preserving the fertility of women with cancer. It can also be used in cases in which it is desired to delay the moment of being a mother for personal or professional reasons.
In order to be carried out, the woman must undergo ovarian stimulation. When the eggs have reached the appropriate number and size, the egg retrieval is performed. Finally, the eggs obtained are frozen at -196ºC.
As it is a very fast technique, there is no formation of ice crystals.
