The semen analysis is the test par excellence to assess male fertility. It is a semen analysis where microscopic aspects such as sperm concentration, mobility and morphology are evaluated, but also macroscopic aspects such as volume, viscosity or pH, for example.
Depending on the pH result, the specialist will be able to suspect a possible seminal infection. Thus, if the pH of the semen is 7.2-8, then it will be considered normal. On the other hand, if the pH of the semen is more acidic, i.e. below 7, the specialist will have to perform other tests to confirm a possible infection.
