Testicular biopsy is a simple surgery in men that consists of the extraction of tissue from the testicles with the aim of finding sperm and using them in an IVF-ICSI treatment. In addition, this technique also allows a diagnosis to be made and to detect whether the absence of sperm (azoospermia) is obstructive or secretory.
Once the biopsy of the testicle has been performed, specialists advise the use of brief-style underwear for greater support, as well as applying ice to the area to reduce inflammation. Furthermore, it is recommended to keep the area clean and dry and to avoid heavy exertion, as well as sexual intercourse during the first week after the testicular biopsy.
