Bipolar and monopolar cautery ligation methods are two similar types of electrosurgery for female sterilization.
Both are performed via laparoscopy by applying an instrument across the tube and cauterizing (burning) the tube. It is done by electrosurgery.
Bipolar tubal coagulation is more popular than the monopolar type, as monopolar forceps spread a greater degree of electrical current along the length of the Fallopian tube.
