Timing of the endometrial scratching

The endometrial scratching procedure is strategically planned to optimize uterine receptivity. Its scheduling spans two consecutive menstrual cycles prior to carrying out treatments such as in vitro fertilization (IVF), egg donation, or frozen embryo transfer.

The protocol begins on the first day of the period preceding the transfer. Around day 21 of that initial cycle, during the luteal phase, the endometrial scratching is performed. With the arrival of the next menstruation, the medication regimen or monitoring begins to prepare the endometrial thickness. Approximately two to three weeks after the start of this preparation, the uterus is in optimal condition for the embryo transfer.
