The traditional method of embryo selection was based on the morphological characteristics of the embryo, such as the number of cells, their size and symmetry, whether there was fragmentation....
However, thanks to the time-lapse system incorporated in incubators such as the Embryoscope, it is possible to know the exact time at which certain important events of embryonic development have occurred, i.e., the kinetics of development. This provides very valuable information which, together with morphology, makes it possible to select the best embryo for transfer based on its morphokinetic characteristics.
