Once the woman has been administered hormonal medication to produce multiple follicles and they have reached the desired size, the ovarian puncture is scheduled to obtain them. For this, the specialist will apply a mild anesthesia so that the patient does not feel pain.
The gynecologist will then introduce a needle attached to an ultrasound machine through the vagina and will puncture the ovarian follicles to aspirate the fluid. This fluid is collected in test tubes that are at 37ºC and will be sent to the laboratory to find the eggs, but always maintaining the temperature.
