Embryo implantation consists of its adhesion to the endometrium, the inner layer that lines the uterus. For embryo implantation to occur, the endometrium must be in perfect condition. If not, the implantation of the embryo would be affected.
Therefore, the presence of some uterine alterations, polyps or fibroids, for example, could interfere with the embryo implantation process. In addition, it must be taken into account whether the window of implantation is displaced, as well as the state of the endometrial microbiome.
