The luteal phase refers to the period of time between ovulation and the day before menstruation begins. When alterations appear in this phase, the woman may experience bleeding after ovulation, lower than normal levels of progesterone in the blood, increased breast tenderness or even spontaneous miscarriages.
Therefore, luteal dysfunction is associated with female fertility problems, since if there is a luteal deficiency, the endometrium is not capable of acquiring the ideal characteristics to favor embryo implantation.
