Women with PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) can achieve pregnancy by following a treatment to induce ovulation.
In particular, clomiphene citrate is a drug that inhibits the action of estrogens over the hypothalamus. As a result, there is a continued release of GnRH and, as a consequence, of FSH. This promotes follicle maturation and, finally, ovulation.
Clomid is a fertility drug that contains clomiphene citrate and it is used by women with PCOS who wish to get pregnant.
