Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is an endocrine disorder associated with the absence of ovulation and obesity in women of childbearing age. Furthermore, PCOS is often associated with biochemical hyperandrogenism, i.e., increased blood androgen levels, and insulin resistance.
However, PCOS is not the same as polycystic ovaries, although it can be an indicator of this endocrine disorder.
