In vitro oocyte maturation is a technique that would allow fertility to be preserved in women with cancer. The process would involve retrieving immature oocytes and having them mature in the laboratory.
To do this, the woman would not have to take medication to stimulate her ovaries, which would also reduce the cost. However, this technique would result in a lower rate of embryo implantation and a higher probability of miscarriage.
