The retroverted uterus is an alteration to the shape of a conventional uterus. This type of uterus is oriented backwards instead of forwards.
Its origin can be congenital or from birth and can also derive from another pathology. Secondary retroverted uteri can result from inflammatory processes, endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, pelvic surgery, menopause or even after miscarriages. Therefore, there are many reasons that may explain the origin of this uterine malformation.
