Types of pelvic inflammatory diseases (PID)

Pelvic inflammatory diseases is a set of pathologies that are characterized by producing alterations in the upper genital tract of women.

Some of them are shown in the image:

• Endometritis or inflammation of the endometrium.
• Myometritis or inflammation of the myometrium.
• Salpingitis or inflammation of the fallopian tubes.
• Oophoritis or inflammation of the ovaries.

In addition, inflammation of the parametrium (parametritis) or the pelvic peritoneum (pelviperitoneum) may also occur.
