Adenomyosis or internal endometriosis can cause problems in achieving pregnancy. Some of the mechanisms that have been proposed by which this affectation in the fertility of the woman with adenomyosis could occur are those shown in the image.
For example, because of uterine changes and an altered pattern of contractions, the transport of sperm to the egg could be hindered. Uterine receptivity and embryo implantation would also be affected.
