When embryos are cultured sequentially, it means that they are changed from one culture medium to another when they reach day 3 of development.
Thus, from the time fertilisation occurs and the zygote is formed until day 3, the embryos remain in one culture medium. At this point, the embryos are transferred to another culture medium and here they will develop to the blastocyst stage.
