There are many alterations and diseases that can be related to the endometrium, but endometrial cancer is one of the most serious.
The most frequent endometrial pathologies in women are the following:
- Endometriosis
- the endometrium invades other locations outside the uterus, such as the ovaries and fallopian tubes.
- Endometrial polyps
- endometrial tissue that protrudes from the uterine lining and is not removed by menstruation.
- Uterine myomas
- are benign tumors that have their origin in the muscular layer of the uterus.
- Adenomyosis
- invasion of the myometrium by endometrial tissue.
- Endometrial hyperplasia
- thickening of the endometrium.
Most alterations affecting the endometrium usually cause abnormal vaginal bleeding and painful menstrual periods. In addition, malignant cells may appear in the endometrium, causing endometrial cancer.
