The main difference between a natural cycle and a cycle with ovarian stimulation is the number of eggs produced.
Naturally, a woman produces only one egg in her cycle and it will be released at ovulation awaiting fertilization by the sperm. On the other hand, when the woman is administered hormonal medication, the development of multiple ovarian follicles occurs and ovarian puncture is necessary to obtain all the eggs. These eggs will be fertilized in the laboratory in the hope that they will give rise to viable embryos.
