Effects of Adenomyosis on Pregnancy

Adenomyosis, or internal endometriosis, is a uterine condition characterized by the presence of endometrial tissue in the muscular layer of the uterus—that is, the myometrium. The exact cause of this condition is unknown, but it may be related to a woman’s estrogen levels.

Adenomyosis negatively affects a woman’s fertility, which can lead to difficulties conceiving. If pregnancy is achieved, adenomyosis is also associated with complications such as ectopic pregnancy or miscarriage.
